So, if you've ever tried losing weight you know exactly what I am talking about here. When it comes time to choose the way, it's like which one do I pick? So, I went on a quest to find the right weight-loss program for me and here's what I found:
First of all if you type into a Google browser "weight-loss" I was astounded by the 76,900,000 websites in which to choose from! Wow! So, after gathering myself up for the task I dived in. At first it seemed absolutely overwhelming, but once I wrote down what I am looking for and the reasons why the task became much easier. Here's what I wrote and I think it will fit into most people's lives that are trying to lose weight:
1 - Must be easy to do on the run
2 - Must be organic or natural (no pills!)
3 - Must be affordable (for me)
4 - Must be feasible (I must be convinced it will work for me)
5 - Must be something I would give to my best friend
Basically, for me I needed something that I could do while I am on the run. This ruled out any DVD's or CD's on weight-loss work out programs, because basically I cannot not stop what I am doing during the day to pop in a DVD and work my *ss off for the next hour or so. Don't get me wrong I believe that our bodies were made to work due to the muscles and tissues that we are all made up of. But, I am fairly active and that really isn't a major deal with me.
I try to take care of my body, although the hectic lifestyle I live leaves me with poor eating habits, but nonetheless, I am absolutely against pills, I try to stay away from aspirin even, so NO PILLS for me! So, the product has to be natural or organic. With that said I was able to eliminate many sites from my review.
I had to be able to afford it, so I figured out my budget, and I also decided to cut out some of my treats during the day and figured this into my budget. Mmm...I have to admit that this part of my quest embarrassed me. It's amazing how when you start a project that you can run into something that makes you step back and say, "Mmm...wow! I can't believe I was spending that much on this *hit!" When I cut out of my budget the pop, latte, and snacks I was eating in-between meals I was pushing $120.00! $120 on stuff that wasn't good for me and that could go towards something that is good for me. A double whammy, savings and something good for my body. So, there I had my budget for my weight-loss program $120 per month.
The next part of my quest was a little more difficult because how do you know if something works unless you try it right? Well, here's what I did. The programs I narrowed my search down to, I then took each one and broke it down into the words, phrases and definitions for what they was trying to sell and then I conducted my own research and that gave me sometimes more insight then their website information was giving me. It also helped to convince me that this or that program will work for me.
Then next part of my quest was also difficult for me. It's one thing to find programs that you like, but then if I was to hand this program or that program over to my best friend and tell them to try it - wow, I'd have to be very convinced and committed to using that program myself. So, I developed some criteria for this part also. First of all, I know my best friend pretty well, so I know what she likes and dislikes, what she would agree to and not agree to. I was even pretty sure what her budget is or could be for a program. This helped establish for me some guidelines as to what I would offer my best friend.
After many hours of grueling research, that I am now happy that I did, I was able to narrow over 76 million websites down to 4. Yes, 4. Ok, I have to admit I did NOT go through all 76 million websites, but I did go through the first 20 pages. After that I noticed that the sites got to be less and less informative and much of it became irrelevant to weight-loss. So, I skipped all the rest of the pages. Anyhow this is what I came up with.
All four sites offered or taught ways to use organic food(s) to help lose weight. One website talked about building muscle to help burn fat off. This I liked a lot. Cause to me it makes sense to build some muscle that will help burn the fat at the same time I am changing what I eat and how I eat, so one system builds onto the other system and soon it begins to work like a machine, around and around till all the fat is gone! And, I will admit after 30 days of trying out the programs I felt better about myself, I was losing weight and gaining muscle and I noticed my energy levels were far higher during the evening periods. So, things were happening for me.
One of the programs was about a natural green tea. I like tea, and in the morning it worked for me, I substituted the tea for the latte or mocha I would normally drink, hence a little savings and better stuff for my body. Another program taught me how to eat better, why nuts, yogurt, lentils, fish and other natural foods are good for you, there was a lot of information here that I simply didn't know. Another program taught me how to do some very simple exercises in the morning and evening that took me a total of 1/2 an hour per day about fifteen minutes in the morning and in the evening, to help me wake up and to relax that also helped to build muscle on me. This happened pretty quickly for me because I stuck to it. It was hard at first cause I wasn't use to it, but the more I did it the more I liked it, and at the end of the 30 days I found myself craving to do the exercises, it was pretty cool. I found out my body really is pretty cool. Another one of the programs uses a natural berry to aid in weight-loss and I found this beneficial especially in the evening when I craved something to eat, this and the tea helped to take the edge off.
I was keeping track of what I spent over a six month period and for ALL four programs combined I was spending approximately $110.00 per month and that included factoring in the one time fee of the muscle program to burn the fat off ($10), the berry ($20 mo) and tea program ($50 mo.) and the cooking program ($30 mo. ($8) would drop off at the end of the six month for one time fee of the books). The muscle program had an alternative program or add-on program for another $97 per month where you could connect with others who are using the program to talk to them and get support, but I figured I would give it a whirl myself and then if I needed more support than I could give myself I'd sign-up. I have done good thus far and the weight is staying off, which is another reason I decided against pills. I've heard so many people getting on pills, losing weight fast, then suddenly or about as fast as it came off it comes back on and even more, then the depression, giving up, loss of hope. I didn't want to go through any of that. I figured I put it on, I can take it off! Right?
Anyhow, at the end of this research I am pretty happy about my results. I am saving $10 per month, eating healthier than I've ever in the past and am gaining muscle where I've never had any. A whole new world has opened up for me and now I am ready to explore it.
Thanks for reading my article - I hope it helps you as much as it has me.
