My wife and I have found that walking to lose weight is a perfect complement to a healthy diet to achieve successful weight loss.
And I have found I like walking! Big surprise for me!
Walking and weight loss are a natural combination.
Why?
Well, as a species we are not normally fat and overweight. We have been walking for thousands of years so why stop now?
The problem of obesity reaching epidemic levels is really new to just the last couple of generations.
Again, why?
The answer is both simple and complex. It starts with the quality of food people choose to eat not knowing that their choices are endangering their lives and the lives of their children. Sound serious and it is.
The good news here is it's easy and much more satisfying to change this trend for yourself and your family. And new habits lead to permanent weight loss!
Consider this: It is not normal to be overweight.
But can you really lose weight forever? Sounds good to me!
The struggle to find a healthier 'YOU' will end once you reset your body's natural balance and understand what our body requires to stay healthy.
EATING RIGHT: This means avoiding processed food. Learn to eat more whole foods at your meals. It means understanding that our bodies operate their best when we eat smaller amounts over longer periods. Eat every 2.5 - 3 hours. Understand that going out to dinner means getting oversized portions and that the sodium content is probably enough to salt an ocean.
And high sodium counts lead to lots of bad news over time...that's another article!
EXERCISING PROPERLY: This is simple, really. You have over 230 movable joints in your body and they need to be used. The key to exercising to achieve weight loss DOES NOT mean you have to punish yourself in a gym for 1 or 2 hours every day, you simply have to get up and move and by far the simplest and best solution is walking briskly for 30-45 minutes, at least 5 days a week.
That's it!
Briskly walk 30 to 45 minutes without pushing yourself to exhaustion and you are doing what your body craves to stay in a healthy balance.
Combine this level of exercise with new eating habits - absolutely avoid high glycemic foods for example, and you are then adopting a new and healthier lifestyle.
One that promises permanent weight loss!
