How to get rid of body fat? That is a good question. Not only is it a good question it is a proper question. This is because most people wonder how to get rid of belly fat or thigh fat or fat under their chin or any other specific part of their body. But, the truth of the matter is that you can spot reduce fat. You must reduce your overall body fat percentage.
Now, to do this many people resort to running or doing other cardio type exercises. This is good but, surprisingly, it isn't the best. Let's consider the fact that a single lonely old pound of fat takes 3,500 calories to burn. If I spend an hour on the treadmill or the Stairmaster I am only going to burn about 500 calories. This leaves 3,000 calories left to go. It would take me almost an entire day to burn a single pound of fat at that rate!
Sounds like a daunting task, doesn't? Well, that's why we need to pull out the big guns and crank up your metabolism. To do this we will start lifting weights. Why? Because muscle weighs more than fat and the more muscle you have the more fat you will burn because your body is forced to work harder throughout the day.
But, the types of weight lifting exercises you do are important as well. You want to do compound exercises that work multiple muscle groups at the same time. Why? Because your body will exert so much effort that it will go into a metabolic shock and burn calories at an even higher rate for days in the future.
